What is the Safe Carry Initiative about?
This is a state-wide initiative about responsible gun ownership. Simple as that.
-
Safe Carry provides educational resources to South Carolinians about being a responsible gun owner, safe storage, children and firearms, and firearms basics.
-
We’re neutral. Safe Carry is about being a responsible gun owner and safely navigating a world with guns.
-
Safe Carry is a great way to learn the basics of gun safety in an easy-to-consume format. Getting a CWP is a full-day course with both a classroom and gun-range component. To find a CWP Course, refer to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Information (SLED) CWP resources
-
As of March 7, 2024, the State of South Carolina authorizes individuals to legally carry a firearm openly or concealed without a concealed weapons permit (CWP) issued by SLED.
Part of that legislation includes additional requirements for SLED to inform the public about increased penalties associated with the Constitutional Carry legislation, as well as providing free classes to South Carolinians.
